COULD IT BE

Life throws us around
surrounds us with confusion

The puzzles untwist
showing a list of "could be’s"

They reveal themselves…

Could it be

That I have
walked into the magic place
of paradise

For there he is
the one that I was looking for
the one that was looking for me

Could it be

This was meant to be
just as it was

The ups and downs
the joy and the frowns

Melting and molding
us into what we were to
become

Could it be

We will finally be free
to unleash the passion
deep in our hearts

Depart from the pain
walk out of the rain

Into eternal sunshine

WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

Back to the assignment book my son and daughter in law gave me. I had to start with That August Day. I had to make up a medication that does not exist.

That August day
made me pray
for mercy!

My head was pounding
like a woodpecker on
a metal roof

Could hardly see
my eyes were strabismic

I reached …

in my disarranged
medicine cabinet

in my dim
bathroom

pulled out the first
pill box
my quavering hands touched

I squinted my confused eyes
to examine the fine print

It seemed to say Motrin

I swallowed a few pills…

Soon my mind was confused
like two year old
trying tie it’s shoe laces
while jumping on a pogo stick

My hearing went backwards
like a man who sees a bear
and it’s cubs
running straight at him

My sight was upside down
like a trapeze artist
swinging with a monkey
on a banana tree

I started screaming
like a wild banshee

I heard the front door
swing open

then my husband’s voice
came to life

“Wife what have you done?”

I could barely reply,
“Took some pills for my head”

He grabbed the pill box
and read

Moronic

‘What the F
a stupid pill?’

‘Where did you find these?”

I replied,
“In the medicine cabinet”

He read the bottle’s warning label
Can cause :
dizziness
lack of sentence formation
feeling like you are someone else
and just plain stupidness

So he called 911

They said, “We have had a lot of calls about those pills tonight.
There is an antidote”

“Oh and do this fast because another side effect
is the side effects are contagious.”

YOUTH AT MY DOOR

Yes

Youth once again
beats in my heart

With the mystery of you

The man of my dreams
comes to me in words

on a page

So sweet and tender

Yes

I surrender
to you my sweet one

I will walk the path
of innocence once again

With you

First kiss
flirting eyes

My breath
taken away

I would love to take
your words away

with my beauty

My silhouette softly
reflected in your eyes

Yes

My love

I will become a child again…

with you.

PEDESTAL

Do not put me on a pedestal
the fall is too hard!

I will never be perfect
nor will you

See my beauty
except my pain

and

I will do the same
for you.

DARK SIDE OF LIFE

Why do some deny that
all are allowed to have
full feelings

Why do some try to put
others in a small box

While they live in
the head of a needle

So small is their thinking
they can't even see it
themselves

So they look at
others

and judge them

When they should
be looking at...

themselves.

GENDERS

Trying to get her boyfriend to understand her
is like trying to teach a duck to do hop scotch

He is divorce of her needs
all he sees is his wants

I don’t think it is out of cruelty
 just how he is…

He is such a man and she is such a girl
they collide.

He wears sarcasm like a second set of skin
his badge of honor is being a smart ass

She tends to be gullible and soft hearted
it is a deadly combination

Unfortunately it is killing her
and he has not a clue

She's dying.

ARTISTS

Art cleans the heart and soul. My respect for artists of every kind is unmeasurable.

ARTISTS

I think what sets artists apart
is they refuse to swallow their pain

They regurgitate it on paper
thru
writing
painting
photography

Or

become athletes
who are in fact
artists of the air

their movement
is art in motion

look at the curve of an acrobat’s back
as they do their walk overs

look at the sweat on the brow of the biker
who’s wheels spin and spin making the air dance

Or

dancers who own their bodies movement
and share emotions thru them for us
to learn their story

Freedom is obtained

Freedom from the pain in their
hearts and souls

Freedom for the observers
to escape their pain
for a few moments
while watching ...

The beauty artists provide.
