BLANK

My bum is sore

imagination never more

lacking

I try and try

but only can sigh

for no words fall on my paper

I sit and sit and twittle my thumbs

swaying my chair side to side

I use to be funny

and quick witted

words rolling off my tongue

dripping onto my page

This evening my mind is a blank

not sure who to thank

for the emptiness of my brain…

Best to call it quits 

for this evening’s attempt 

to be clever

seems 

to be in vain.

When respect has been breached

an agreement must be reached

The offender not to repeat.

The innocent who forgives 

must not forget 

but also …

must not hold onto

the crime 

and 

offend the offender 
for the rest of his life.

As I age I find comfort in that

Better to let ugly experiences

rest in bad dreams

For that is what they feel like…

not real

Such a gift that is for those

who know how to let go

of their nightmares

and cling to sweet memories.

I look at the little boy

cheerful
innocent
lost
in his world

I want to 
hold

comfort

and make 

his happiness 

real.

I look at the little girl

vulnerable 

trusting

alone

in her world

I want to 
console

protect

and take her fear
away

Different lives

united 

as one

Can it be done

fulfill each one?

Him so insecure

Her so afraid

I have to take a big breath

make love to patience

for patience owns this story.

is a good place to be

it sets you free.

To know is like being

in a cell

no way to tell 

what is

real.

No need to make

a big deal

out of in life

when you don’t have 

the answers

only questions.

like an invisible friend

pulls me closer to you
