BRING IT

Gotta come to the party
with a present

Do not crash it

Look within
to see what you’ve
got to give

Do not look outward
to see what
you can get

There will never
be enough
outside

To fill
your need
inside

You

Gotta bring it.

GOODBYE MY LOVE

He was like sunshine
peaking out
from a big black cloud

My heart would skip a beat
when we would first meet

Then the thunder
would come
and the rain would fall

The saddest thing of all
was I loved him

But could not drown
with him

So I said goodbye.

HOPE

How many dark places
have I been

Has there been too many

did I die?

My heart feels so heavy
will I let you hold it

will I let you have it

I want to

The tears choke me
they stop my breath

did I die?

God I hope not

I want to accept
the new life
ahead of me

I want to embrace it

and

You

Walking into the light
can be blinding

It makes it hard to see
for awhile

Your eyes need to adjust

will I adjust?

God…

I hope so.

HO-HUM

Art or reality
is it a a choice?

Can’t they blend?

Tough sometimes
nothing rhymes

when they're off balance

No reality leaves little
to put on the page

Too much reality
there’s no time

to put anything
on the page…

Ho-Hum.

CHITTER CHATTER ...SHHH

Silence is golden
but
pure solitude
is deafening

I chose to be with you
and to be with me

No need to share a roof
at our age

Your chatter can be
delightful
when I know it can be
turned off
with the close of my front door

Having mornings with
nothing but me
and the air
help me to care more for you
when days are to be filled with two

There’s something wonderful
about romance
in older years

It can date back to
the time
we had a curfew

So excited to see your beau
no strings attached
just butterflies in your stomach…

Forever.

SHADES AND SHAPES

Poetry is best captured in many shades and shapes

Life is not just black and white
it has light

and darkness

How boring it would be
not to have variety

A balance is best

Posey can have structure
or
Be care
F
   R
        e e

It can be funny
sad
or
mad

To lean one way or the other
is to fall down

and drown

in repetion

Each poet has something to say
in their own very special way

That’s what makes it
wonderful.

HOME

Life is like an incredibly long movie (hopefully)
with lots of twists and turns

It has you sitting on the edge of your seat
wondering …

Where is the creator is going
 with this plot?

Parts are so boring
you start snoring

Only to be awaken
by a scream

Was that me?

On and on it goes
and nobody knows
the ending

Some think they do
and try to convince others
their idea is true

After a while as the movie
continues
you start to relax

Push back in your chair
and go along for the ride

Not worrying about knowing
the conclusion

Confident you will “get it”
when the time arrives
for you to
finally…

Go Home.
